It’s been a weird winter or, more accurately, a series of weird winters erased and replaced on a near-weekly basis since November. That’s made the Short’s Brewing Fat Bike Series serve even more as a talismanic, sentimental source of that winter feeling; if we’re racing on snow, it’s winter!

Glacial Hills
Steve was able to get another good groom in last night, the trail is really setting up nicely. It’s going to be some great fat biking!

Traverse City
I was able to groom this afternoon with our new compaction drag "The Whoopster" thanks to delivery by Mike Walters after Up.Bike/Great Lake Stainless completed construction of our new design. The trails are now dialed. Tomorrow morning Mike and I will be out to groom again and turn the dial up to 11.

Happy Trails,
John Roe

Report: Report # 6

Date: 1/27/23

Time: 6:00am

NWS Forecast here.

Sorry about the silence yesterday for some reason the grooming report did not send.

Cadillac Pathway
WST:
Groomed Thursday afternoon the entire 12 miles. Reporting excellent conditions on the east side of Seeley rd. This is a first groom on the west side after we lost all our snow from the December “blizzard”. Reporting soft conditions. Next groom is Saturday morning (approximately 9am). We feel with another groom on the west side it should become firmer.

XC:
Saturday morning (7am) we plan to try and set track on XC ski trail.

Traverse City
Last groom was Wednesday night, I expect we will be grooming this afternoon and possibly again on Saturday morning. The snow is wet and setting up within a couple of hours so by 5pm today the riding should be spectacular. Heading into the weekend with fresh snow in the forecast the conditions should remain great and continue to build base.

Watch out for the Yeti!

Report: Report # 4
Date: 1/25/23
Time: 6:00am

Cadillac Pathway
WST:
Received approximately 1 inch of new snow. Groomed the 5 mile loop on the east side of Seeley Rd. Excellent riding. Cannot groom the trail on the west side (6 miles) until more snow comes.

XC:
The XC ski trail (trails on east side only) was groomed on Monday 1/23/2023. The new groomer did a good job to smooth the rough frozen surface. NO set tracks. All activities can resume on the xc ski trail – hiking, running, riding and skiing with no tracks if you desire. We will close to XC skiing only when there is enough to snow to set track.

Glacial Hills
Groomed 1/24

Traverse City
Last groom 1/21, We would like to see a bit more snow today and plan on grooming tonight. There seems to be more on the way this week so we'll have the trails dialed for the weekend.

As Queen said, Get on your Bikes and Ride!
The Fat Bike/Snowshoe loop from Vandermark to Orchard is getting groomed now. Also the hiking path at Eckhardt will be groomed if you don’t have snowshoes.

Traverse City

We received 3-4" of fresh good packing snow yesterday. The trails are packing in nicely when ridden in. We don't have quite enough snow to have effective grooming yet. However, with riders loosing the trail we have Heath Day going out in the Saturday morning to groom the main loop and maybe more just to give definition to the trailbed. The entire Vasa Singletrack system is rideable and packing in well from bike traffic. So get out and ride.

Thank you for supporting grooming,
John Roe
