Happy New Years!
All of NMMBA's trails have been dug out and cleared from the storm. They are ready to ride for the Holiday.

Cadillac Pathway
The entire CP has been groomed and clear of downfall.

It’s in great condition right now.

Glacial Hills
It's been a minute since we last groomed the Glacial Hills Pathway. We have received lots of new snow during the past 24 hours and more is in the forecast. As soon as the grooming team deems it safe to get back in the woods (the winds are still gusty), we will pack it down for you.

Palmer Woods
Jason went out Monday morning and cleared Palmer. Mike went out Tuesday after work to groom and pick up the remaining debris.

Travese City
Trevor and Joe groomed and cleared trails ye

Northern Michigan's sandy soil makes trail damage from freeze-thaw cycles less of a problem, but riders still need to know why it's a serious issue.

Throughout all of NMMBA's trail systems fat bike riding is at its best right now. Get early and enjoy the trails while they are firm.

Cadillac Pathway
Did not groom the trail this morning. I feel the little dusting of snow will give it some traction. Did do the whole loop this morning. Entire trail is rock solid! Could be potential icy spot here and there. No trees down. West side is amazing. Whole trail 10/10
Palmer Woods
Was groomed Saturday, and trails are solid throughout the system.

Traverse City
Groomed Saturday, Trails are fast and grippy. Get out in the mornings this week before the thaw. We have very little snow In the forecast so, I'm not sure we will be able to repair damage to the base if ruts and footprints are made in the soft snow. If the base even survives.

Glacial Hills
Groomed Saturday. There is a solid base with a couple inches of snow covering it.

Traverse City
The trails have about a 1/2" of fresh snow over ice and are very slippery. If you go out use studs. We will attempt to groom this afternoon but we do not have studs on our snowmobiles so we may not be able to get them down the trails. More snow and the few hours above freezing tomorrow should help conditions.

Cadillac Pathway
Groomed Monday evening.

Palmer Woods
Dear Riders,
The NMMBA community is excited to welcome our newest groomer at Palmer Woods, Jason Davis! This morning, two machines put fresh tracks down across the trail system, and conditions are looking great for now.
We are entering a thaw/freeze cycle, which means riders should avoid fat bike trails when temperatures are above freezing to protect the surface. Looking at the forecast, mornings will be the ideal time to get in some excellent riding while the trails are firm.
Your participation matters—multiple laps help pack the surface into prime condition for everyone. Please ride responsibly and help us keep Palmer Woods in top shape through this weather cycle.
Happy Trails!

Traverse City
The last groom was Sunday afternoon. The trails were dialed today. Perfect conditions. I expect the trails should hold up at least through the morning tomorrow. By Thursday,

Palmer Woods
Fat Bike Grooming (Report #5) Date: December 11, 2025
The NMMBA grooming crew was at it again this evening at Palmer Woods, working in another fresh two inches of snow. With consistent attention and cold temps, the trail now boasts a 3–4" firm base that’s shaping up beautifully for the weekend. Conditions are settling in, and things are lining up for some excellent riding.
If you’re planning to get out, we strongly encourage riders to head to Palmer Woods this weekend and put in multiple laps on the fat bike loops. Human Grooming is the best grooming, and your tires help pack the surface into prime condition for everyone.
Happy Trails!

Traverse City
Josh and Joe groomed the entire system tonight. We have firm base formed and the trails are shaping up nicely for the weekend.

Cadillac Pathway
Cadillac WST groom for Friday - both sides of Seeley Rd cleaned and compacted. West side needs more riders to really pack it in, but the whole loop is riding well for the weekend.

Traverse City
The groomers will head out at 8am this morning. They'll be on the trail until about 11am. Watch for them and thank them for volunteering. They will be scratching the base to combine it with the fresh snow. This means the trail will be soft until the afternoon. If you are sinking more than a 1/2" Drop your pressure please. This will conserve volunteer hours.

Polar Bear (East side) was groomed yesterday.

Trail conditions similar to TC this weekend, but “we have significantly more snow”.

The walking trail from the pavilion is also done.

Traverse City
Chuck and Heath groomed Strombolis yesterday so the whole system is now open. They also groomed where we bench cut so expect good riding today. We are going to hold off grooming unless we get some significant snow. The whole system is in great shape and riding well. Check out our new roller from Up.bike below.

Palmer Woods
Palmer Woods Fat Bike Grooming (Report #3) Date: December 5, 2025
Our dedicated crew was out on the trails today, grooming the entirety of Ursa Major and Ursa Minor after Palmer Woods received a fresh 2" of fluffy snow. A thin crust is beginning to form between the powder and the still-unfrozen ground, which is a promising sign, but ideal fatbiking conditions will take more time and additional passes to fully develop. The trail shape is coming along nicely, yet the tread surface remains soft and will need to firm up before riding reaches its best. If you do find yourself hike-a-biking, please walk on the margins of the groomed tread to help preserve the work being done. Happy Trails!

Cadillac Pathway
WST:
Groomed Friday evening. We did not receive any new snow. Snow base is firm and rolling fast.

XC:
Groomed the tracks Friday afternoon to get it in shape for a weekend of activities. There has been a lot of oak leaves falling on the east side. Also, we have had a lot of hikers on the trail flattening out the tracks and with no new snow the tracks won’t be that great.

Glacial Hills
Groomed yesterday and rolling fast.
