Tour de Fat Rolls On
For nearly a decade, the Short's Brewing Fat Bike Series offered a fun way to explore several winter trails and stay connected to all your fat biking friends. Starting in 2024, the Tour de Fat picks up where the SBFBS left off. Organized by Mike Cortright and race directors from six northern Michigan fat bike events, the Tour de Fat keeps the tradition rolling strong.

Fat & Flurrious
This year's fat bike campaign starts with Fat & Flurrious on January 13. Now the traditional start of the season, Fat & Flurrious is the excuse you didn't need to get to Boyne City. Like all races in the series, there are two distances to choose from and plenty of series points on the line!

Dogman Challenge
Dogman slides forward on the schedule this year to January 20. This lap-based race is ideal for beginners but a notoriously competitive event for the more experienced crew, too. The Dogman is held at Mt. McSauba and is one of the Midwest's most established fat bike races.

Fat Chance at Crystal Mountain
Fat Chance might be the oldest fat bike race in the country, which is to say, in the world! Now a full decade old, this race has taken on many forms, but today's lap-based format is a fan (and racer!) favorite. Fat Chance wraps up a busy month of racing on January 27.

Eh Winter Experience
The newest addition to the series, Eh Winter Experience is also the first enduro-style event on the calendar. The fat bike race will feature as a part of Marquette's winter sports celebration, with fat bike, snowshoe, and backcountry ski events all on offer. It's a great way to explore Marquette's South Trails and visit the UP!

North American Vasa
The North American Vasa Fat Bike Race is a true singletrack event that features some of NMMBA's incredible groomed trails. It's one of the state's most beloved fat bike races, and February 10 is a can't-miss day at Timber Ridge. Traverse City has hosted the North American Vasa for nearly 50 years, making it the region's traditional celebration of Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and fat bikes.

Fatty Caddy
For the second year running, Fatty Caddy will cap off the season in style on February 24. It's the perfect chance to check out the new and improved Cadillac Pathway. Quite a few racers also use the Fatty to jumpstart their spring fitness just a few weeks ahead of the early mountain bike season.

Get Outside This Winter
Fat bike racing is as laid-back and inclusive as it gets. If you're new to competition or want to see what it's all about, get a few of these events on your calendar. Most of these races support local trails or winter grooming programs, so you can feel good about showing up.
